If you have any questions about my qualifications, training or experience please ask,

my story

Some of my expertise is from lived experience. I am a 41-year-old man, father, step-father, son, brother and uncle. My parents separated when I was a baby. I've been through family court, representing myself. One of my children has special educational needs.

Before working as a therapist I was a sub-editor on newspapers in Dublin and London in my 20s. I became a father at 25 but after the relationship ended my child was taken to live a long way away. I followed, taking a job I didn't enjoy, and eventually had a breakdown.

The help I received inspired me to volunteer as a listener at the Samaritans, the suicide helpline, and I qualified with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) in 2018.

My therapy practice is integrative, which means that I offer approaches that feel right for each client. I'm grounded by person centred principles and my personal philosophy, although it is evolving, is probably best described as existential and transpersonal. I've been interested in the human condition all my life, and I studied anthropology at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

As a lifelong surfer and hiker I'm an advocate for healing in nature, especially through exercise. I also practice vipassana meditation, which is the ancient root of modern mindfulness techniques. I've spent much of my life by the ocean in Cornwall, England.
